John Graham 

John Graham is a Director of The Trans-Safe Network SL, the legal entity of the Network in Spain. He was until May 2005, the Senior Corporate Road Safety Advisor with Petroleum Development Oman, (PDO, a Shell Operating Unit), when he launched Trans-Safe, which developed into The Trans-Safe Network and its association with the UK based arm of the Network.

Prior to leaving PDO, John had 26 years experience in line management of oil and gas related Logistics Operations with leading producers in the Middle East. Included large truck and bus fleet management, logistical support, and planning and contract development work on 3PL and 4PL Logistics. Before that, he worked in the UK in various management positions in two Transport and Distribution Companies, including a road and rail operator. John as a strong HSE expertise which is currently being utilised by a number of companies on a global basis. Recent work assignments have included peer safety reviews and HSE audits of road transport operations in Egypt, Moscow, Siberia, Sakhalin Island, and Ethiopia. Other work assignments in direct connection with road transport risk-control have taken John to Japan, India, China, Thailand, Syria, South Africa and North America amongst others.

Projects completed within the last four years have included: Introduction of Defensive Driver Training Programmes for 12,500 light and heavy vehicle drivers; Road Transport HSE Case; Compiling new standards for Load Securing and Safety, and Operating Standards covering driver qualifications, vehicle specifications and management systems specifically to minimise operating risk, also team member on a Quantified Risk Assessment comparing mass movement of personnel by air versus bussing.

Community interface developments have included key roles in drafting a National Road Safety Plan for Oman and personally initiating a National Driver Training Centre for developing driver skills in association with the Royal Oman Police. John is also active in raising road safety standards via the Oil and Gas Producers International Forum (OGP).
